The surfaces we work with

Solid surfacing in DuPont Corian, natural granite, and laminate by Wilsonart and Formica. We will talk through how each one takes heat, water and knives, what it costs, and how it sits against the door and floor you have already chosen.

Because we understand how materials behave both on their own and next to each other, the counter gets specified as part of the kitchen rather than picked from a sample chain at the end.

DuPont Corian

Solid surfacing that can be worked, joined and repaired, with seams that disappear and edges shaped to suit the doors.

Natural granite

Stone chosen slab by slab, so what arrives is the piece you looked at rather than something from the same quarry.

Wilsonart and Formica

Laminate when the budget is doing the deciding, detailed properly so it does not read as a compromise.

Specified with the kitchen

The counter is chosen against the door, the floor and the light in the room, not off a sample chain at the end of the job.

What kind of cabinets do you make?

All three kinds. Full custom cabinets give you unlimited choice of material, design, colour and finish, framed in the traditional way or frameless in the European style, in woods like oak, cherry, maple and hickory. Our semi-custom line works to set door styles and sizes with unlimited colours. We also run stock programs when the budget is the deciding factor.

What countertops can I have?

DuPont Corian, natural granites, and laminates by Wilsonart and Formica. We will talk through how each one wears, what it costs, and how it sits with the doors and the floor you have chosen, rather than pushing you toward one material.

Where are the cabinets actually built?

Here. Everything we make is built, stained and finished locally in Western Massachusetts, which is how we keep control of the quality and get it right the first time. Kitchen-Works is staffed entirely by cabinetmakers, so the people who build your kitchen are the people who fit it.

Do you work on anything besides kitchens?

Yes. The same cabinetry carries through to dining rooms and the rest of the house, and over the past twenty years we have built museum-quality furniture, entertainment centres, desks and hutches, computer stations, bank counters and multiple-unit ATM surrounds.

Can you help if I am doing the work myself?

That is what we call Do It Yourself Insurance. If you get puzzled or stymied part way through, you can retain us on a flat fee to help in whatever capacity is needed, as a design consultant, a technical assistant, or a second pair of hands. You decide how involved we get.
